18 Month WBC

I had my WBC on Thursday the 1st. I don’t like going to those things. People I don’t know measuring, poking, touching, and then there’s always those pokes in my legs that I don’t like :( . It makes me sad.

I am now 24 pounds and in the 43rd percentile in weight.
I am 2′8″ and in the 47th percentile for height.
And my head circumference is 48.5cm in the 92nd percentile.

If you compare these numbers to my last WBC when I turned 1, I’ve only gained almost 2.4lbs b/c I weighed 21lbs and 12 oz, I only grew 2inches b/c I was 2′6″, and my head circumference stayed EXACTLY the same. Dr T said I was still doing very well. He even said that I’m advanced when it comes to my speech! YAY! I guess I was so good that I got me an ELMO sticker! ELMO!!!!

I finished up on my DTP and Pneumococal vaccines and I just started the Hep A. Oh boy. Daddy didn’t really like the lady pokepoke and said he preferred the mean man in the chair. But the lady did fine for me. She ven gave me more stickers! Zoe and Cookie!

I have to go back after my birthday again.

1 year WBC

Finally. 1 year, and 8 days later and we get an update on her height, weight, and head circumference

weight: 21 lbs and 12 oz which puts her in the 60th percentile
height: 2 feet and 5.75 inches, 69th percentile
head circ: 48.5, 99th percentile.

Yeah my kids got big heads. The both of them. S says they get it from me

She only got 2 shots today and did pretty well. No fever and no irritability. Nice. She took a short nap after the doctor’s appointment and only now fell asleep for her other nap of the day. I’m hoping she just sleeps through the night. I fed her dinner and everything. I can hope can’t I.

9 Month WBC

[lil miss] I had my 9 month WBC today, even though I’m 9 months and 1 week old. Mommy didn’t get to take a picture b/c the nurse lady was talking soooooooooo much, about herself too. She said she was having a bad morning so I flashed her a smile and waved bye bye to her. She said that I brightened up her day already. WAHOO, go me!

I did NOT like that table with the paper on it. It just wasn’t comfy. Mommy kept trying to put me down. First to take off my clothes. And then again so the lady could measure me. And then again to put my diaper on. And then again so the doctor could check my hula hips ;) .

I only gained 1 pound since my last WBC, which was 3 months ago. Dr T said he was a lil alarmed being that it was only 1 lb but I think Mommy was happy b/c she’s been complaining about what a chub I’ve become :( . Apparently though the lack of weight gain could be from my moving around more. Ya know the crawling and pulling up :D . So as of today I weigh 20 lbs and 3 oz.

My length is 28 and 1/4 inches.

Dr T was impressed that I can wave, and the right way too. I was babbling up a storm with him too. I said “baby”, “yaya”, and a bunch of my other babbles.

So it all went well and mommy lived up to her PROMISE about NO pokes in my legs :D .

6 month well baby check

[lil miss] I had my 6 month well baby check this morning, a week after I turned 6 months, but who’s counting?

The nurse lady was giving Mommy a hard time b/c Mommy busted out the camera. Never had Mommy had drama from it before, she just wanted to take a picture of the numbers. That’s all lady. The lady said it’s illegal, Mommy didn’t listen to her and took pictures anyways ;) . According to the scale, I now weight 19.3 pounds. YOWZA! I gained 2 pounds since my last check, 2 months ago. Dr. T said I’m in the 90th percentile for weight. Isn’t that a good thing? It’s a high percentage. Heh :) . And I am now 26 1/4 inches long, but only in the 60th percentile.

Mommy is concerned by my size, but Dr. T reassured her again that I’m doing okay. They discussed eating again, I’m telling you I’m just not into it, give me that liquid gold and I’m good to go. Y’all just don’t know how yummy in my tummy it is :D . Dr. T said that once I’m crawling, walking, and running… the weight should just shed and be gone. Let’s hope so.

So they dressed me, but didn’t put my pants on? Uh-oh, I know what that means :( .

This time Daddy didn’t hold me, the lady told Daddy to put me down and hold down my arms :( . I didn’t like it. She stuck me and I didn’t like it :( . 3 pokes in my legs, yeah so what if there’s a lot of meat on my legs, it still hurt :( . I fell asleep before Mommy pulled out of the garage. That always happens!

So I’m growing and on the right track, but apparently I need to get up on the eating thing b/c soon the liquid gold will be no more :( . Mommy said it won’t go away soon, but I can’t rely on it forever.

2 month Well Baby Check

Ohmygawd, I can’t believe how much she weighs!!! I’m even embarassed to say how much she weighs, but for record keeping sake, I suppose I have to. A whopping, 13.7 lbs!!! Holy COW!!!! At her 2 week WBC she weighed 6lbs 13oz. She nearly gained the weight of another newborn!!! Her length is 22 and 3/4 inches long. The nurse didn’t write her head circumference on the sheet.

With the height and weight check, comes the inevitable immunizations. Poor thing got 3 today. And she was NOT a happy camper. She did the hold my breath cry that I had expected. I got to hold her while he stuck her big old thighs. She turned so red and cried her “hurt cry”.

She’s doing okay right now. Kinda cranky and not her usual self. I’ll let it slide for now, heh. Every little movement she makes kinda irks her so she lets out a little whine every now and then. The person who “stuck” her said she would be sore in her legs and to give her some acetaminophen. I totally forgot about that, but gave her some a fewmoments ago and she’s out like a light again.

I know I shouldn’t stress over her weight. I kinda am though. I don’t want her to be fat :( . The doctor said it was nothing to be too concerned about though b/c she is strictly breastfed. She should shed pounds as she gets more mobile and he said we would be monitoring the weight gain, but really it’s nothing to stress over. Why then did I come home and consult my book, What to Expect the First Year.

It’s a totally different experience this time around b/c she’s breasfed and big brudder was formula fed. I swear J did NOT weigh this much at his 2 month WBC.

So next WBC is in November!!!

2 week well baby check

“Sweets” is looking good. She weighed in at 6 lbs and 13 oz today. YAY!!! She’s gaining weight slowly but surely. Dr T was a little concerned that she’s not back up to her birth weight, but hey she’s only 5 oz away and I have no doubts that she’s fine considering she gained 9 oz since the last check in. The nurse also measured her and according to her measurements “Sweets” is 20.5 inches. Hmm… she lost half an inch. NOT. But he said that if I’m okay with her weight then it’s nothing to be concerned about.

Anyhow everything looks good. Jaundice is gone. I was a little concerned that she poops at every feeding but Dr T said that it’s normal for breastfed babes to do that. i wasn’t sure about what the poops were supposed to look like either, so I let him take a peek and once again he reassured me that her mustard turds were good to go :) . Whew!!!

She’s up for longer periods during the day. She’s all alert and stuff. It’s kinda cute. Once again I caught her smiling and laughing in her sleep. Really, it’s toooooooo cute.

Her next appointment is her 2 month well baby check and immunizations :( . But that’s not until September.

1 week well baby check

She’s not quite 1 week yet. Heck during her appointment today she is literally 3.5 days old.

When she left the hospital she was 6 lbs and 10 oz. Today at her weigh in, she was 6 lbs and 2 oz, so the NP had to double check her numbers b/c more than a pound drop was something to worry about. I KNEW IT!!! I knew she was NOT 7 lbs and 8 oz at birth. I remember seeing the scale photo S took and it said 7.08. So it turns out baby girl was 7 lbs and 1 oz at birth.

I noticed her skin turning a bit yellowish over the few days as well but stuck it out til the appt today and it turns out she’s a bit jaundiced. I remember when “BB” was born he came down with jaundice as well but it was treatable at home. Just some nekkid sunbathing at home. HA!!! There is no sun where we are at the moment, lots and lots of fog. Poor thing had her blood drawn, 2 vials. She was screaming and wailing her head off. Unfortunately she has to go in again tomorrow to get more drawn. My poor baby girl.

Breastfeeding is coming along. I think?!?! My milk has finally come in and the engorgement is crazy scary. Why is it that everyone at the hospital says to relieve the engorgement with warm compresses but then on babycenter.com, they say NOT to relieve with WARM compresses. UGH!!!! “Sweets” seems to latch on easily on the left side but it hurts like a mofo at times. And although she has a harder time latching to the right side, it doesn’t hurt.

“BB” didn’t get the hang of latching on. And after losing 2 lbs and having slight PPD, we gave him formula. I don’t mind that but I really would like to breastfeed this time around. It’s so much cheaper and easier on me, although S doesn’t get to partake in the feeding process. I like that I don’t have to go into the cold kitchen at night to heat up a bottle. I’m debating if I should return/ exchange some of the bottle paraphenalia we got as gifts. I mean once her teeth start to sprout I’m definitely stopping the boobie juice… I can’t fathom the teeth bit, but I’ll need the bottle stuff, right? I mean hello it hurts a little now and she’s all gums, I can’t imagine it with teeth.

I’m getting sleepy and she’s been snoozing on my chest for a bit. Nighty nite for now anyhow.
